Getting there & terminal
In Naples, GNV departs from Calata Piliero, sat-nav address Piazzale Molo Pisacane 1; the operator's ticket office is at Piazzale Immacolatella Vecchia 1, not directly at the berth. By car, reach the port via the ring road or the A1/A3 and the Via Marina waterfront; without a car, it's a good ten minutes from Napoli Centrale railway station to the port by bus or taxi.
In Termini Imerese, the GNV berth is on Via Scala on Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo, right on the A19 (Termini Imerese exit, five minutes). Termini Imerese railway station is around three kilometres away, with taxis and buses linking it to the port.
Check-in & departure
GNV asks you to be at the berth two hours before departure. Check-in closes in Naples 45 minutes before departure, and in Termini Imerese for the return also 45 minutes before. On foot, go with your ticket and ID to the counter; with a vehicle, enter the control zone with your ticket, everyone's ID and the vehicle registration document. Online check-in through your GNV account saves time at the port.
Miss check-in, or fail to board the ship named on your ticket, and GNV gives no right to a refund with GNV, not even a partial one.
On board
On this route GNV uses ships including the GNV Spirit, the Splendid and the Tenacia. You can choose deck passage, reclining seats, inside and outside cabins, Pet-Friendly Cabins and suites; given the evening departure and dawn arrival, a cabin is worthwhile. A restaurant, self-service, pizzeria, bar, shop and children's area are on board, with Wi-Fi (Sea-Fi) available for a fee. The vehicle deck is closed during the crossing.
Vehicle, bike & pets
Cars, motorbikes, motorhomes and caravans travel on board; the price depends on length and height, and make, model and number plate must be included in the booking. Driving someone else's vehicle requires a notarised authorisation from the owner. Report LPG vehicles when boarding; they park with the gas valve closed in a separate area. Dogs and cats travel with you in a Pet-Friendly Cabin or in the pet kennels on board; animals aren't allowed in other cabins. Arrival & onward travel
Termini Imerese sits right on the A19: it's around 45 minutes to Palermo, half an hour to Cefalù, a good two hours to Catania. Travelling without a car, take a taxi or bus to the station, from where regional trains run to Palermo Centrale and towards Messina. If you want to arrive in Palermo itself, the daily city line is at Naples - Palermo.

Overnight from Naples to Termini Imerese
Alongside the daily city route to Palermo, GNV also sails from Naples on selected days of the week to Termini Imerese, 35 kilometres east of Palermo. The overnight crossing takes around 9.5 hours: depart Calata Piliero in the evening, disembark on the A19 early in the morning.
Worthwhile if you're heading east anyway - to Cefalù, the Madonie or Catania - and want to avoid Palermo's city traffic. Check the departure days in the timetable, as this line doesn't sail daily.
